Southside Youth Outreach is an active missions organization reaching teens and families locally and around the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Southside Youth Outreach (SYO) was founded in 1993 by Shane Sanderson and continues today under the direction of Tom and Jodi Brager. The mission is to be intentional in reaching out and in making disciples here in America and in ALL nations as the Lord leads.
Our strategy at SYO is to pray, preach, teach, and live the Word of God through relational discipleship. Some of the programs and methods we use are church involvement, Bible studies, weekly outreach events, Bible quizzing, summer camp, community service, discipleship trips, and local and international mission trips.
Through SYO, students have many opportunities to hear about Jesus, make a decision, learn, and grow in their faith. As students make decisions and begin to grow in faith, we challenge them to become leaders and to GO and make disciples themselves.
SYO also seeks to be actively present in the lives of teens in order to cheer them on in life and to impact their lives for Christ. We advocate for teens from "broken homes" and work to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those living as orphans in St. Joseph, MO and around the world in hopes of seeing chains and patterns of addiction, dysfunction, and poverty broken.
It is our goal to reach out to theose who would not normally come through the door of a church to build a bridge and to build relationships that help teens and their families get plugged into local Bible believing churches.
